Day 1: Old Sacramento
Arrive at San Francisco International Airport and check in at the Hertz rental office. Pick up the vehicle you selected for your tour (Sedan, convertible, van, or SUV). Enter the address of the Delta King Hotel in the Hertz “never lost” Navigational System and enjoy your scenic two hour drive to Sacramento. For the next two nights you will be staying on a restored paddle wheeler river boat that brought travelers from San Francisco to Sacramento. You are in the heart of Old Sacramento an area of history and non stop action, so drop the luggage and start having fun!

Day 2: Old Sacramento
Enjoy breakfast on the veranda of the river boat and then head over to Sutter’s Fort, the restored fort of John Sutter and learn how living in California was before the Gold Rush. After lunch it is time to head back to Old Sacramento to visit a number of excellent Museums including the Gold Rush History Center and the California Railroad Museum. As in all our tours we will include a top ten list of attractions and restaurants so you always see the best attractions and eat at great restaurants.

Day 3: Sutter Creek
After breakfast it is time to head to the picturesque Gold Country. Your first stop is Sutter’s Mill were gold was first discovered along the American River in Coloma. From there you will enjoy a beautiful drive through the rolling countryside that is dotted with historic Gold Rush towns, excellent wineries, and classic California vistas. For the next two nights you will be staying in charming Sutter Creek, a wonderful small Gold Rush settlement.

Day 4: Sutter Creek
Today after a hearty breakfast you will be going to the Sutter Gold Mine, a historic hard rock mine near Sutter Creek. You will learn all about gold mining and get to go into the mine and experience sights only usually seen by miners! For lunch and the afternoon you will be visiting one of the finest wine regions in California, you will love the sights, smells and shopping in this special region. We know the best wineries to visit and will include a list of the ones not to miss!

Day 5: Murphy’s
After breakfast you will be heading south along historic highway 49 to Murphys a fun picturesque mining town and your home for the next two nights. Along the way you will be traveling through many of the classic gold rush towns including, Angels Camp, Columbia, and Sonora with lots of opportunities to explore and shop. We will include maps and the best places to stop.

Day 6: Murphy’s
Today after breakfast you will be spending the day in Yosemite Park, one of the most beautiful places on earth. Your day will be spent visiting majestic waterfalls and unsurpassed scenery. Back in Murphys enjoy your night out at one of the fine local restaurants in town, we know the best places and will provide a list for you.
