Day 2: Old Sacramento
Enjoy breakfast on the veranda of the river boat and then head over to Sutter’s Fort, the restored fort of John Sutter and learn how living in California was before the Gold Rush. After lunch it is time to head back to Old Sacramento to visit a number of excellent Museums including the Gold Rush History Center and the California Railroad Museum. Day 3: Sutter Creek
After breakfast it is time to head to the picturesque Gold Country. Your first stop is Sutter’s Mill were gold was first discovered along the American River in Coloma. From there you will enjoy a beautiful drive through the rolling countryside that is dotted with historic Gold Rush towns, excellent wineries, and classic California vistas. Day 4: Sutter Creek
Today after a hearty breakfast you will be going to the Sutter Gold Mine, a historic hard rock mine near Sutter Creek. You will learn all about gold mining and get to go into the mine and experience sights only usually seen by miners! For lunch and the afternoon you will be visiting one of the finest wine regions in California, you will love the sights, smells and shopping in this special region. Day 5: Murphy’s
After breakfast you will be heading south along historic highway 49 to Murphys a fun picturesque mining town and your home for the next two nights.
